chooks arrived

Post: # 138142Post happy place »

the chooks arrived on sunday
monday morning we were greeted with 2 eggs and one chook not looking so good tried to encourage her to eat and drink and by evening she looked a little brigter but alas she didnt survive the night .still tues days total for eggs was 8 so things are looking good but have realised fencing in garden isn't as suitable as i thought
one question do they need to be left with food and water over night idont think so but beloved has put doubts in my mind  .
still theres nothing more relaxing and stress busting than sitting by chooks and hereing them greet you
try hard mean well and never give up

Great! Though sorry to hear about the one chook that died.
Yes, lovely sound they make. They can be really agitated, but also very contented when scratching around for goodies.

Sorry to hear about the loss of chuckie, but glad the rest are good.
I don't leave food and water for mine as I was told it could encourage the rats so I clear all food debris every night
Best of luck :flower:

That's great. Glad the chooks have settled in. The one is a shame but, unforuatnely, often happens.

The food I put down for my chooks doesn't last till night time. I do leave water for them in case I don't get up early enough. They do get quite stressed if they can't get enough water and it won't attract vermin.

Enjoy.

I always leave food and water for mine and they're already munching from the hopper when I go out to let them out which is soon after dawn. Chickens drink a lot of water and I wouldn't like to think of them left without in case there was ever an emergency and we couldn't get to them.
