Perhaps I used the wrong word "diet" , maybe what I should have said was more along the lines of making some lifestyle changes. Because it isnt something you can do for so long , then revert back to how you used to be.
I , like Green Aura am a classical yo-yo dieter, I can do really well, then as soon as I think I have lost enough, I revert back and on it goes with a little more added!

THIS IS THE YEAR TO MAKE BIG CHANGES!

Last year was my first real year of growing my own and recycling/reusing (as much as poss) It was also only the second year I made alot of stuff I would normally buy from the shop. So this is the year to make more healthy lifestyle changes.

The worst thing for me is cooking for one and not getting in til about 7pm each night, I find I cant be bothered cooking a proper meal and end up picking.
The other thing is sitting at a computer all day. The only excercise I get is in the garden. :flower:

We'll get there Sarah Jane, I'm confident. I'd already made the decision to do this - having all you lot for support will help maintain my resolve, I hope!

To start things off I'm currently a size 22 on top and 24 round my bum. I don't possess any scales but I know a clothes size = approx a stone.

I'm starting today to get at least 15 mins exercise daily - sounds so small but I really am that unfit - to be increased as I get fitter. I'm looking at bikes on ebay, but I'm not sure - bit hilly round here.

So here goes!

This is a lovely idea, you can count me in! It's nice to see the idea of a lifestyle change instead of some odd diet that won't last.

Not so much for weight loss (although the irrational part of me thinks i need to lose weight, my body mass index is fine, so i'm trying to be reasonable with myself!), rather its to learn to "eat well", ie more fruit and veg, less of the rubbish and prepared food. I always mean well, but am disorganised and end up eating crisps, chocolate and horrible factory sandwiches all the time, and feel rubbish for it. Time for a change!

Hope I can join in, I'm a size 16, semi retired, get lots of exercise, comfort eat, even when I don't need comforting! Want to do it from the health aspect, left it too late for the beauty! pbf

Last year, I was told I was glucose intollerant, and that loosing weight might help. I was 10 and half stone.

I joined in with another group on a different forum. It was great having the support. I lost 2 stone and my glucose levels went from 7.4 to 4.7.

So , go for it , everyone. I'm here rooting for you :toothy7:

around 10 pounds is my goal,i have cut out eating after 8pm as i tend to snack around then,i have changed the drinking chocolate drink for cocoa,as i read the label and found mostly sugar and e`s,so now i have 1 flat teaspoon of cocoa and 1 brown sugar ,at least i hope that is more healthy,i also use soya instead of milk anyway,i drink this around 9pm,and i`ve cut out eating any of the biscuits that i originally bought for the tots,i havnt cooked any cakes as their my downfall,will cook next week for the family and hope i dont eat too much of it,i cant cook them without tasting myself!wish i could :( but will limit myself to a thin slice,
no chips in fat fryer have used the oven and coated them in a smidgeon of olive oil and lots of garlic powder,the kids love chips but i tend to pick at them after cooking them,but really need some low fat recipes for puddings?the family love puddings,and i`m the only one that needs to lose weight,and i have a sweet tooth,i do crumbles alot with oats,
so help,easy recipes please,low cost ingredients that will get used time and time again,cant be doing with fancy expensive ingredients that rarely get used again and cant be stored,oh and i have got myself a smaller plate :lol:

I've lightened up my plan. Less pressure, more success.

Kind of like saying, I'll read five pages of a book each day, and any extra is just nicely extra. Rather than putting an arbitrary goal of 50 pages a day, and then I don't do it.

Low-pressure plan, more success. Ish, Ish, Ish. IP, you're great.

1 cup of cous cous
2 cups apple juice
1 tsp cinnamon

Mix together and pop in fridge for a few hours. Give it a stir. Enjoy.

I have been avoiding this thread, because I need to lose weight and get fit, but joining this thread means committing to seomthing.

Well here I am now anyway and I am going to go for it.

I have been seeing a nurse about my weight and she put me on a plan, it went really well and I lost a stone and a half from September to November, and I havent lost anything since then, so I definately need the encouragement to get me re-motivated and losing again. I only have another stone and a half to lose, but it seems like so much right now!
