YULETIDE GREETINGS
Today is the Winter Solstice - our shortest day - so tomorrow is really new year, when the sun is 'reborn'.
Go burn a log to rid yourselves of last year's troubles - then tonight light a candle to welcome next year's aspirations - some very old traditions indeed.
..........and season's greetings!

Re: YULETIDE GREETINGS
Best wishes for Yule!
We usually have our 'Christmas' dinner on this day (buffet on the 25th which is prepared on the 24th), but both daughters are full of cold and feeling a bit down in the dumps, so we'll be having it between Christmas and New Year this time so I'm going to clean up my old bike instead. I'm hoping to be able to start riding it to the allotment, which should cut out about 10 minutes traveling time each way, giving me an extra 20 minutes there.
Have fun everyone.

we toasted the solstice with a glass of homemade elderflower champagne, from our own elderflowers. we froze the concentrate, and started it a week or so back.

Re: YULETIDE GREETINGS
Seasons greetings to you all! We kind of missed last night so tonight we are going to celebrate the first of the shorter days (IYKWIM!) with a bonfire. I guess this means I have to go in search of marshmallows to toast!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

we had a lovely day of being together, then we had a fire in the garden (contained in the old washing machine BBQ lol) and welcomed the sun back.
