Loving the cloth pads. I am currently not using mine (bf) but I made mine at least eight years ago and they are sill going strong!

Physiologically speaking I can't get along with the Mooncup although my friends also rave about it, but I think that cloth pads are topper.

You ought to have seen the other Mums faces when I handed my hubby a bag of them to wash after having to have an overnight stay in hosp after giving birth to my youngest daughter! I like to believe that it was actually his healthy attitude towards the whole bodily functions issue rather than the fact that I was using cloth pads. (I think I'm deluding myself actually)

This is just an aside really, but I also believe that apart from the obvious environmental reasons, my DD1 (3) has also become very accepting as to what happens to Mummys body and is not scared of the 'blood' as she sees me using them and washing them and this has to be a good thing. One particulary funny incident happened before DD2 was born - a friend had popped in for a coffee and a chat, and we were out in the garden and DD1 was helping me to hang a line of washing out she was busily passing me up the clothes when i felt her tucking something into my belt... she had poppered two of them together and was busily wedging them around the gusset of my trousers!lol. As the friends said at least she knows what to do with them!

Kids you gotta love em!

Thank you - could be any day now, eeeep!

I ordered cotton tops with bamboo inside, and as I was planning to use them post-baby I got the 'heavy flow' sort. To keep the price down I took advantage of their six-for-five offer and went for the cheaper fabrics, which i just happened to like anyway. I got the little hearts on a red background, and on previous occasions have bought the pink diagonal stripe (bit blinding!) and strawberry print. Over the last couple of years I've bought a mix of liners and proper towels to cover the usual variety of flow in a normal period, and think that I now have enough to last me til periods stop altogether in 10 years or so (I'm firmly the wrong side of 35!).

Thank you Mrs Dville, it is finding the initial outlay on cloth pads that is tricky. Some of the ones I have had a few years are looking a bit the worse for wear, and I do want some more. so I will definitely have a look at the site again. I like the fact that they are made in Britain, and they have some extra long ones. The next step would be seeing them in the high street shops!

Growing things, yep, you can rely on children to innocently embarrass you  But I think it is good for children to see things, my sister has been open with her daughter too, unlike to how we were brought up, where the whole thing was shrouded in secrecy & something to be ashamed of. My husband seems very accepting of my natural cycle, probably more than I am of myself!
