How about making soaps from scratch, the ingredients are relativley cheap if you buy them from a manufacturer rather than in kit form.

Hope this helps,

Any suggestions on manufacturers? I can only find the kits or soap suppliers who don't end up being frugal! TY

When you reply or make a post on here you will see some options above the box where you type your message (under the "subject" box). They start with "B", "i" "u", "Quote". The last but one is "URL". If you click on it, it will insert the code into your post and you need to type or copy and paste the link you want to use in between.

Like this (I have changed the brackets so that you can see what I mean; yours will be square brackets):
(url)put your link here(/url)

Good luck
I'd be interested in your lavender salts and onion chutney recipe!

For christmas this year (and last year) we made everybody soap and wine

I use these people for my soap supplies:
http://www.thesoapkitchen.co.uk

They have a good recipe and method here, makes great soap:
http://www.thesoapkitchen.co.uk/soap_recipe.htm

We used this recipe this year and added peppermint to some bars, cinnamon to others and left some plain

the soap works out about 50p per bar i think and wine is about £1.20 a bottle

Everyone absolutely loved their presents last year and this year they're gonna be better

I'm surprised no-one has posted www.craftster.org yet!

Craftster's a great resource. there's loads of sewing, knitting, soap making, decoupage and just about everything else on there!

If you're a knitter, then www.knitty.com has some great things. ive found that the calorimetry is a very popular present, and it took me about a day to knit up, but someone faster could have it done in a matter of hours.

You can download toy patterns from the internet, and use cotton sheets from charity shops to make loads of them - then dye them/paint them with fabric pens, or, for creative youngsters, give them a plain white toy and some pens to colour it in.

Think i might do that last one with some monsters for a friend of mine...
