This is a two part question really -
1. has anyone used ale vera gel to heal tattoos? Ive got a new tattoo and i want it to heal fairly quickly. I've put aloe vera gel n it and it seems to be doing a good job so far.
2. How do you harvest, and possible preserve from the plant? I have a large aloe vera plant that i'd like to harvest the lower leaves from and replant it a bit deeper in its pot. How would i go about preserving the gel inside? I'm not going to use a whole large leaf at once..

Re: Alo Vera Gel
I'm longing to see the answer to your question FeeFairy
I tend to bend over the tip of one of the 'leaves' and next time I need aloe (a burn or whatever) I nip off the bent end - the leaf is generally healing itself across the ways by then.
This year I lost a large aloe which fell from it's pot and didnt recover, but being unknowing how to store the 'gel' it was all lost (composted)

Re: Alo Vera Gel
Aloe Vera is my favourite Plant EVER!
I have used it on wounds (some of them really bad) and the healing process is almost like a miracle. I'd say it would be perfect for your tat!
Here's a good post about harvesting Aloe - but it doesn't stay fresh for long, couple of days in the fridge is your limit. It's much better to snip off bits of the stem as and when you need it.

Re: Alo Vera Gel
Thanks for your replies.
I used the aloe vera on the tattoo for the first couple of days, but it caused 'bubbly' scabbing, which is not so good. I've switched to svalon cream which is doing abetter job. I think the aloe was keeping it too moist, and not letting it dry enough.
