For my 35th birthday (2006) my partner asked what I wanted. With two full-time wages coming in, we could afford most things, so money wasn't a problem. However, I told him the thing I wanted most was to spend a day just with him. ). OH felt a bit stingey not buying me a present, but I didn't need anything, and there was nothing I wanted that could be bought. It was a lovely birthday.As for cards, I don't send them to people I live with. I used to have to when I lived in my parents
house, or they would sulk and say I didn't care. I send them to other relatives, because I never, ever see them, and like them to know I'm thinking of them. Same with some friends that I don't see very often. I also send to neighbours, because they send them to me and it's just the 'done thing' around here. I think it's important to keep the harmony with your neighbours.
