Feel so sad
For the last 19 hours,in our village,(east harling),we have been searching for a alzheimers sufferer who walked away from the supposedly secure residential home. He is type 1 diabetic, (insulin dependant), as is my Jackie. We feel a lot of empathy for him, wherever he may be. We have been out with the police, today, looking everywhere. Helicopters, with thermal imaging cameras have also been involved. Unfortunately no sign has been found. We will be out again shortly.I don't really know why i'm posting this, but i do feel so sad, because, out there, some guy is dieing & he's all alone & confused.
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Re: Feel so sad
Hi Red, i feel so bloody useless, knowing, that somewhere,outthere............. but in our rural community,it would be literally, like looking, for the proverbiale, kneedle,in a haystack(or is that, too many cliches?).
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.
Re: Feel so sad
that's terrible news. my thoughts are with you and him. wish I could think of something more comforting to say. i guess there's some comfort to be taken in that fact that people are looking, and care enough to get involved in the search.

Re: Feel so sad
That's really upsetting, I hope you all manage to find him. At least you are trying to do something and I'm sure your help is appreciated.

Re: Feel so sad
I checked online this evening and discovered that this poor man WAS found semi-conscious and taken to hospital but that he subsequently died.
It must be so distressing for all the people who turned out to search for him, the emergency services and his family.

Oh, that is so sad. My thoughts go out to his family, friends and the wonderful neighbours who helped in the search.
Thank you for letting us know, Graye

Re: Feel so sad
Not quite sure about the conflickting reports, but we found Raymond,to-day,lying in a railway embankment. He was in a diabetic coma. He is now recovering, (hopefully), in the N & N hospital.
I'm going to bed, now, 'cos i'm bloody knackered. Thankyou, all, for your messages. Andrew.

Re: Feel so sad
Unfortunately it does seem my earlier post was correct - although he was found on a railway embankment he did subsequently die later yesterday. Poor man, it was an awful end.

Re: Feel so sad
Unfortunately,Graye, you were right. There appears to have been confusion between the various news agencies, yesterday, but to-day it has been confirmed that Raymond did not survive.Graye wrote:Unfortunately it does seem my earlier post was correct - although he was found on a railway embankment he did subsequently die later yesterday. He was a 73-yr old retired vicar, who was only admitted to the (supposedly) secure home on Monday. He was there to give his family, a one-week break.Some-time after mid-night,the same day,he was reported missing. As is often the case with alzheimer p
atients,he probably decided that he wanted to go home. It's ironic, that he had spent his life tending to others, yet in his time of need, he was all alone. I've no doubt there will be serious ramifications at the home now,but i do feel sorry for the staff who were on duty on Monday night.

Re: Feel so sad
What a sad thing to happen - however I can't believe that he was alone - he had worked for his god all that time - so surely his god was with him
