Helloooo from South East London
Hi there all - I'm really pleased to be a new ish-er.
I work for VegBox Recipes, and am launching myself into the worlds of seasonal food, grow your own, make-it-yourself, eco and ethical with enthusiasm and much scrambling-type energy.
I love how many online communities there are supporting people like us who want to do it a bit different and need help.
I am about to move in with a friend who has a patio garden. I hear that this is the time of year to PREPARE if I want to grow some of my own veggies, and I hear that having a patio-garden is no reason not to try - that I could grow veg in boxes / tubs. So I am hoping to find some info here to help me get started.
Anyway, lovely to be here!
Claire

Hello from a Charlton boy.
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Well, I was born in Woolwich (BHMB) and lived until my early 20s in Brockley (went to John Stainer and Askes). So forgive me if me geography's a little hazy, but how long has Cirencester been in South London?

Maybe you're being a bit finicky, here, 'cos on the map, Cirencester & S.E. London, are only 2" apart.

Hello from me too!
Having a patio garden is no reason at all not to be able to grow your own. I only have a small courtyard garden but have grown all kinds this year.
One piece of advice that I learned this year and it really paid off was, if you havent got much groundspace, grow "upwards". I invested in a couple of obilisks and my beans went mad! Hanging baskets are also good for trailing tomatos and just to keep with the upwards theme, I grew some amazing sunflowers , they got to 15ft tall and really brightened the garden.
Courgettes did well in barrels, I also have a small plastic greenhouse thingy, to start everything off in.
Herbs do well in containers and I gre garlic and shallotts in troughs.
With a little imagination it is surprising what you can achieve.
Have fun!
