Lavender sachets - simple cross stick chart required

Post: # 124613Post theabsinthefairy »

With the bumper crop of lavender flowers drying now, I have decided to make some sachets for good old crimble pressies - but would like to decorate the material with a lavender cross stich, having spent more time than my poor brain will allow via google I just can't seem to find a simple, single flower head pattern free on line anywhere - does anyone have one they can share with me?

Many thanks

Monika

Monika, I have loads of basic flower patterns but I can't find a specific lavender one (I have 3 big Jo Verso books) if you have some graph paper you could always design one yourself?

I tried that - but it just looked really rubbish. So I tried copy and pasting some of the pictures on google to blow them up bigger so I could copy the pattern but the blues just merged into one and I went cross eyed after a couple of minutes.

So still looking.

I don't do cross stitch myself (haven't got the patience) but a quick look revealed this: Victorian Lavender Picture/Cushion Panel

You could try trawling through this site

http://www.antiquepatternlibrary.org/

I've found all sorts of interesting things there.
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

You could try this link for creating picture patterns

http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/

It should be the same for cross stitch pictures. I think :?

Thanks - I have seen the lavender sachet pattern - that is the one I tried to copy freehand but failed miserably at. The other patterns are quite large and involved and I just wanted something simple to stitch onto a little wardrobe scent satchet. I have decided that a letter 'L' will do!

Especially as I appear to have about 10 kilos of flowers - too many harvested this year - there is nowhere to dry them, at least the sun is out in the day, and I can just keep piling great big clumps into the warming oven of the Rayburn.

Thanks guys.

Monika

It is helping to make up for the smells issuing from the new kitten - very aptly named - Stinky Eric!

You might be able to download a pattern creating programme from somewhere. I had a cd somewhere, but i'm not sure where it is right now. You uploaded the picture, put it through the programme, told it what size you wanted it and it made a pattern. I only used it once and ended up with a pattern for Brandon Lee in The Crow...big enough to cover my bed...i made a few small errors measuring out how big i wanted it...
