101 stupid things people have said to you

Do you keep livestock? Having any problems? Want to talk about it, whether it be sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, bees or llamas, here is your place to discuss.

12. (a personal one to me) You're so short! (I'm 4' 9" - but dont they think after 24 years that I know this already!!)
12a. At 5' 10", I get the opposite - "Aren't you tall?" Er, yes, well, I'd worked that one out for myself thanks.

"How are you today?"

Said in that chipper tone where the only reply they expect is "Fine, and you?"

Except that it was said by the triage nurse at the emergency room last week, when I was too weak and sick to answer.

Today the same thing happened at the neurologist's office, and I managed to answer "If I was ok, would I be here?"

A similar one from me. I had a work colleague (and as a result, all her mates) about to report me to the RSPCA because I ate rabbit! She said, "it's disgraceful! You wouldn't eat your dog would you?" to which I replied, "Not as his age. He's be too stringy".

My eldest had his class in tears when he was in year 2 when they were all talking about what they liked about rabbits. The conversation went along the lines of:
Child 1 - I like their fluffy tails
Child 2 - I like their soft fur
Child 3 - I like the way their noses twitch
Child 4 - I like to watch them jumping
Conor - I like the way they taste in stews!

That's my boy

In GPs surgery holding a 2 week old baby, 2 school girls take an interest. Lots of cooing about how cutre she was. Baby starts crying and the girls want to know why, I reply ' I think she's hungry', there was a short pause before one asks 'where's her bottle?'. I look confused and she repeats the question. Suddenly I comprehend and say 'She doesn't have a bottle, I feed her.' Now comes the scary bit - 'oooo, I heard some babies didn't have a bottle'

That reminds me of something someone said to me. "You're breast feeding! Oh! We're bottle feeding. It's better for the baby. When you breastfeed they don't get all the right nutrients and you have to give them supplements". :confused2:

It was the bloke who said it. I think his girlfriend had told him that so that he didn't try to pressure her into breast feeding, which she didn't want to do. He just believed her. When he came out with it she interrupted and changed the subject really quickly. She was always doing things like that. I'm not in contact with them any more, but I think he must surely have realised by now.

I'm studying loads of multicultural politics at the moment, read an anecdote about a man of African origin who married an European woman, they had kids and when the census came round, were asked "so what race are your kids?"... the reply was "human race"
