Is this the best way or should I leave the rest on the plants and let everything die back naturally?

Drying beans
I am coming to the end of my runner beans and to be honest I have a freezer full of them. I am wanting to save some of the beans to plant out next year. I picked some off, let the pods dry out and the beans swell and they are now on the windowsill drying.
Is this the best way or should I leave the rest on the plants and let everything die back naturally?

I leave mine on the canes until they are really dry, but I have to say it doesn't look very good! I am trying to clear up my allotment for the winter, and I have this row of withering runners! pbf

If you don't want to leave them on the canes looking unsightly while they dry or because you need the space - you can either pull up or cut the plant at ground level, and leave them hanging upside down in a warm dry area to dry that way.

Re: Drying beans
I dont really need the space as I wont be putting anything in there now I dont think so will leave them to take their natural course.
I presume the ones that I have lying on a sheet of newspaper on the kitchen table will be fine too though?
