I recently planted some potatoes which started to grow but the frost has killed off the shoots. I thought potatoes were OK to grow in winter?
Peas - I have seen on a growing calendar that I could pant peas now but when would they be ready for picking? Ive got some growing from plants I overlooked and theyre really healthy plants but would newly sown ones have to wait til spring to be eaten?

Re: Potatoes and peas
I think spuds would need the protection of a polytunnel in winter. I don't know anything about growing them out of the normal season. Having said that I've noticed in the patch where I grew my spuds this spring there's a quite large spud growing! I thought I'd leave it to see what happens.

Re: Potatoes and peas
I have just harvested some spuds now that were in a bag outside my door, thats the latest I know about. I'd like to do a bag for Xmas next year.
As for peas I have sewn some last year that were supposed to be ready january, I think they were a bit later but it was very early spring
