All is well here, thought we wouldn't get away from Aberdeen but we did in the end, we were expected to be in 3 days or so and ended up in for 10. She spent 2 days in special care in an incubator with pneumonia, so then had to stay in Aberdeen for the full course of antibiotics, then her jaundice got worse so we had to stay in until they were confident she didn't need to be under lights, then she lost more than 10% of her birth weight so had to stay in until she regained some, then on the last day the paediatrician examining her for going home found a heart murmur, but thankfully we were able to be scanned the same day and it is not serious so they let us go with an outpatient appointment for December to check it has closed up by then.
The pertinent details are - Lucy Isla, born 16/09/08 weighing 8lb 12 (not the whopper 10-11lb they were predicting, just surrounded by loads of fluid).
Rather a stressful start but all are well and happy to be home! Thanks for thinking of us
Would have let the locals know...but we were not allowed off the ward and were on a day-to-day tenterhooks as to whether we would be allowed to go home the next day so there was never enough warning to plan anything.
