buying land

hi all i have been for a long long time wanting my own smallholding

and was thinking of buying say two acres of land and putting a static caravan on it

any ideas on what the cost of such land in west wales would be

I would look into the planning laws regarding static caravans on agricultural land ... I don't know about Wales but I think it's a no-no just about everywhere.
I think I would look at a plot of land with at least the ruin of a house on it, that way you should get permission for a caravan while you are renovating.
Don't let me put you off though, your idea is a marvellous idea .. just do a bit of the other "ground work" before you spend any money.

i have just been looking on the web and it seems i can buy the land as long as i dont plant to do anything with it

this is utter madness i dont see what the problem is i want to turn it into a smallholding
not build a housing estate

maybe have a small farm shop or plant shop there

i cant buy a place that has a house or has had a house there as my siss has OCD and one of the things she cant do is live where there has been an old house
