Jeremy Vine- Friday show.
Just been listening to the Jeremy Vine show,Radio 2,from 12pm til 2pm (I think!) They have a topic called "Your Money or your Life" on Fridays, well this weeks topic is,Self Sufficiency! Jeremy is inviting people to phone/txt question/comments in advance, how about it Andy? Bit of publicity for the site.Jamie from Jamies Farm is going to be on in an expert capacity, and the topic covers everything from a window box to large acreage,so something for everyone. Worth a listen anyway.
Now, what did I come in here for??????

YEAH Andy & Dave - GO FOR IT boys....
I've only recently started listening to the JV show - it's very good. I like his style of interviewing and I've heard a few good topics over the last couple of weeks... will be dusting off my radio (normally only listen in the car as the signal isn't good here)
I've tried to listen online but can't do that with windows media player apparently.. supposed to download realplayer but I took that off because it was causing problems.
Thanks for the note about the show!

Hi Ina
you can follow this link to a map to find radio 2 in your neck of the woods: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/radio2.shtml
Alternatively, radio 2 is normally somewhere between 89 and 92 on the FM dial.
Hope this helps!

Well, I did - only for the first hour (lunch hour) - it was all about water metering! And then they started something entirely different, which didn't seem to be related... But you should be able to check it on the website. I might check it up myself, to see whether there was something after that which was more relevant.
Actually just checked - this site is soooooo slow again today that the time it took to check that out it hadn't managed to post my comment...
The topic after the water metering was unpaid overtime (self sufficiency???), and then they must have talked about gardening and allotments. Well, not everybody has two hours lunchbreak...
Let's hope it'll go off this time.

hope you are feeling better Andy - it might be worth dropping him a line anyway as he covers lots of topics - no harm in trying is there... and after all... we are selfsufficientish... that's quite different to going the whole hog
Ina... YES, site has been slow today, but I don't think it is just this site... I thought my pc was going to start emitting steam at one stage.

I heard the topic (although it did seem to be AGES before they got round to it!) it mostly dealt with "what can I grow in tubs/on a balcony/in partial shade ect but did brush on pigs, bees, how much land it would take to be self sufficient and those who are moving abroad (apparently Bulgarias the place to go!) it was interesting but more from a gardening point of view rather than a lifestyle.
Now, what did I come in here for??????

Bulgaria
I've looked at quite a few properties in Bulgaria (from the comfort of my PC, only dreaming of a country estate) and they are ridiculously cheap-all need renovating, but you get acres and acres of land for a few thousand. The idea of renovating a property where there is no B and Q, and I don't speak the lingo puts me off, as well as offsprings education.
ah well no harm dreaming......
kind thoughts
