Hi Gunners

you can buy sweet potato tubers from May onwards, subject to availability from Thompson and Morgan at http://potatoes.thompson-morgan.com/uk/ ... getables/4
sorry, but have no idea if you'll get away with growing them up north, or where to go for that advice.

Gunners... "www.OrganicCatalogue.com They are expensive at£10.95 but I am going to try them as I love them" - from Diver on another thread. I've had a look, but to be honest, from the research I've done, they need very high temperatures - and sandy soil. I LOVE them but think I might just sneak a bag or two from the supermarket as a treat. I think one of the companies who supply supermarkets grow in this country. Keep your eye out.

If you do decide to, or maybe we could split a pack??, let me know!

I couldn't find any for sale last year and I was advised to put a sweet potato on a pot full of water on a windowsill so one end was in the water and wait for it to sprout 'slips'. These slips could then be broken off and planted. I never got around to it last year but some of my friends did and reported great success.
