Hello from Carlisle
Hello everyone, I'm Becca, and I'm up in the frozen north in Carlisle. I've lived up here for 6 years since i came to college here, and now I'm in love with a Cumbrian so I'm stuck up here! I studied Contemporary Applied Arts at CIA when it was CIA and thats what got me thnking about all these ish things. I dont make any claim to be incredibly Ish at all, I joined this forum because these issues and Ideas interest me, and at times weigh on my mind, and I want to be able to discuss these ideas, and get hints and tips from you all!
Being paid minimum wage at the moment and living in a rented flat I'm not in a position to be incredibly sustainable, but we do what little we can. My work, when I get round to making any (I trained as a weaver and occasionally get to my loom) I try to make out of wool which has been worked as little as possible before reaching me, and I dye it all myself with natural plant dyes. I wrote my dissertation on sustainable futures for textiles, and it really got me thinking about the whole textile industry.
I would love to one day have a veg plot, and a cut flower garden and a plot to grow my own dye plants but its a little while off yet! thanks for reading ifyou got this far, and I'll start talking soon I guess! Becca

Hi Becca

I think you need to upload the images to the internet - one of those photo gallery sites like Flickr. Other people would be better at advising you which is the best site for it (I have my own website, so I can cheat). Then you click on the 'Img' button when you're typing a message and insert the web address of the image you want to upload between the {img} {/img} things that pop up. Is that any help? Or is it gobbledygook?

Hi,Becca..........i can think of a lot wourse places to be stuck, other than Cumbria.(worse). And don't worry. No-one is more computer illiterate than me!!
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

oh i know, i just like to blame it on him! :) I'm 5 hours from my parents, thats the hardest thing. its a lovely unspoilt part of the world. I wouldn't mind being stuck where you are, my Grandpa lived in Norfolk and going there now he's gone. Its a lovely part of the world!

Re: Hello from Carlisle
you gotta blame someone!! There are so many similarities between Norfolk & Cumbria (apart from the height-above-sea-level!). It's a place i would choose to be stuck in. Maybe Egremont?
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Re: Hello from Carlisle
There are a few ways around this... you can reduce the size in a photo editor... or upload them to flickr.com or photobucket or similar photo hosting services.buzzybee wrote:by the way, I'm working on the photos, I take them at too high a thingy to post them straight in here but I'm working on another way of getting them online.
