the ninjascarecrows say hi!!!!!

Post: # 119734Post ninjascarecrows »

hey everyone,

we're e a self sufficient-ish couple from hampshire!

jo grew up doing ish type stuff and paul is newish but learning fast, we do however share the dream!! lol

currently our ish type activities are limited to 35 rods of allotment (have just expanded) and much home brewing. on the go at the moment is some lovely mead that's almost ready to bottle, some rather fantastic bright pink and rather frothy looking raspberry and grape wine that's been on the go about a week and is still going CRAZY! about to go in the demijohn is some turbo cider to tide us over till the apples are ready to make some real stuff! some point over the next few days we're gonna start our first foray into beer making (with a kit but hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere)

veg wise i hope to have enough tatties to last us till christmas fingers crossed, and enough carrots to feed an army (that's not an invite to the army, we just could if we needed to!) we have no where near enough onions but i doubt we ever will!!!!

so our future plans involve a home made greenhouse made of recycled bits, a green wood-working course we are going on next week and hopefully some chickens in the not to distant future. . . . here goes!!

lookin forward to meeting you all!!

jo and paul (aka the ninjascarecrows)

Hiya Jo and Paul! I'm heavily into wine making this year, too...

Btw, Julie - Bert looks a bit hung up, methinks... :?

Wha..... I do hope that MMM & ina aren't being unkind about Bert! One can't help what one was born with, you know!

No, he's not scary to the birds - especially the little chaffinch that sits for hours on his head
BUT.... the crows have stopped attacking the bird feeder & the back of the house since he moved in!

And he was fun to make, as well

Hello neighbours,

Good to see Hampshire Hogs on the site.

Do you know anyone from the Meon Valley self suff group or the East Hants? Both seem less than active recently.

Welcome aboard! I'd highly recommend hens - we rescued 4 ex-battery chucks (re-charges!) last month and are already getting 4 eggs a day! We could probably make scrambled eggs for the army too (but prefer to share them with family & neighbours!).
