Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome.

Regarding wild and woolly, woolcrafty, things, I am experimenting with using various knitting/crochetry/macrame/embroidery techniques combined to make original artwork - hence trying to get to the point where I only work enough days to cover the essentials and spend the rest of the time doing this. When I have time, then I would be very interested in getting into using natural plant dyes to get the colours I want - anyone already doing this?

Since I posted first I have been looking at a couple of allotment options to give us more growing land and am keeping my fingers crossed on this. I shall be plundering the site for all possible advice.

Regarding wine etc, am keeping an eye on growth of nettles, etc. for early beer and wine. Have never made wine from oak leaves but my son spent 12 months up in Arctic Norway and I understand that spruce/pine is used there. Am always interested in old/country recipes.

Again, thanks for all your welcomes.
