no, I'm not planning to eat marbles.

Can marble (THE STONE) be used as a pizza stone? is it uk under heat/cooling? will it crack?

I have heard that marble tends to explode as it is not a very dence stone so PLEASE be careful, it is ok to use as a cutting block espesially for meat if it is polished.

I have two marble boards that used to be the hearth from my parents' fireplace and which my dad cut and polished for me. They make fantastic pastry boards because they stay cool, no matter what the weather's like. Unfortunately, as cutting boards, they suck! Because the blunt knives like nobody's business. And I like my knives sharp enough to behead unwary double glazing salesmen.

Nothing from direct experience, but if your stone really is marble - that's metamorphosed limestone - then it has already been under an immense load of temperature - far hotter than your pizza oven could get it. However, I'm no expert here.

thanks MKG, I'm game to try it but also a little fearful because despite its faults, I really like my cooker.
If all else fails at least I'll have a nice pastry board like lsm1066 suggested!
