Poorly cherry tree.

Oh well done! Unfortunately sometimes you just have to resort to some 'nasty' things if the tree is young because they can become very distorted when there is a serious aphid infestation. I have a peach tree that was covered in black fly last year and dripping in honeydew (what the ants farm from aphids) and all the fruit dropped off. I sprayed with washing up liquid soapy water which killed a few but this year it is far less bushy and there is no fruit at all.

Still I have hopes for next year!

I am gutted! I was so pleased with the results from nurturing the tree back from illness, and so excited about picking the bountiful amounts of cherries this year (more than any other year) I went out to work one morning last week , picked a cherry off the tree as I passed it and decided I would pick them that evening as they looked and tasted yummy. Only to find when I got in from work that some thieving git had nicked them!!!!!! It cant have been the birds as there were far too many and there was no evidence( ie; stalks, stones) so somebody just walked into my garden and stole my cherries!!! Not only was I angry that someone obviously thinks it is ok to take something that doesnt belong to them, but also that I was so pleased with the results this year.
It has taken me a week to post this as I sulked for a few days!

Hi to all, You might want to consider polk salad spray. It is a wonderful natural pesticide. Pick some leaves and put them in a pan and bring them to a boil. Then put the liquid in your spray bottle and spray away. Note: you can often find polk salad growing where you have burned a brush pile or around the barnyard. Just a thought. I use this spray on almost everything that gets infested and it works. Hope this helps
