Re: Pea supports
I made a bamboo frame in a classic "tent" shape, then tied plastic netting over it, tying it down in as many places as possible.
So far so good.
I'll post up a pic if I get a chance.

Re: Pea supports
I've used plastic netting as support before now, works fine as a support but come the end of the season picking the pea or bean haulm off it either to hang it up in the shed to dry the leftover pods for seed or to put it on the compost heap was a real pig, the plants intertwined in the small mesh (50mm square) to such an extent that it left you to pick the haulm off in 100 mm long bits. The sheep wire looks a better bet it would have the strength to allow you to pull the haulm off without breaking.QuizMaster wrote:I made a bamboo frame in a classic "tent" shape, then tied plastic netting over it, tying it down in as many places as possible.

Oh dear, well I've got that ahead of me.
The sheep wire cylinder though, how do you weed inside it?

You cannot weed inside the wire cylinder. I once planted some sunflowers in the centre just for fun.

Re: Pea supports
brilliant idea, we have several offcuts lying round the place that are too small for anything else.
Opinionated but harmless

Thanks for letting me know the variety you have grown, Minesapint. I will definately be putting them on my seed list for next year! They look amazing.
