State funeral for Thatcher?

Post: # 114961Post jim »

Monday 14/7/08, Radio 4 PM programme follows up report in The Mail on Sunday (it would be!) concerning spending public money on a State Funeral for the unlamented Saint Margaret Hilda (aka Snotty Roberts).

Being that the woman engineered an unnecessary war, caused unemployment for 3 million, has had her policies on council house sales, rail, post, water, energy supply privatization etc., Nationalist Curriculum, Ofsted and SATs tests proved disastrously wrong. Brought in the 1983 Wildlife and Counrtyside Act that allows (among other things) for the sale of allotments to property speculators and increased size of juggernauts. Left Britain a coarser, less caring society where the "iron rule of the market" dictates every decision it seems that our taxes could be better spent.

I suggest that on the occasion of her death Government money could be made available for dancing in the street, spectacular, celebratory firework displays and free beer all round. Or have I allowed myself to descend to her malicious level?

Love and Peace
Jim

What a silly idea! Now if they'd done it 10 years ago, I would have been in full support ...

Dear MKG
10 years ago would have been good, perhaps 25 and it might have caused less damage?

Until we actually start watering the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants, there should be a public tarring and feathering of the corpse as a warning to those still-living politicians of at least posthumous revenge.

Yes what a terrible woman - started a war to protect British citizens rather than oil and dared to challenge over powerful unions & civil servants ... terrible woman, nothing like the excellent principled career politicians of recent years ...

Dear Millymollymandy,

Sliced Bread and the Holy Margaret!! How appropriate! Cheap, nasty, lacking in taste and almost totally devoid of any goodness!!!! Wished I'd thought of making that comparison!

Much prefer the Bakuninesque stance adopted by Rod in Japan .... Hang the last politician with the guts of the last bureucrat ...

Not to mention that she wanted to prove that women can do war as well men, and encouraged the First Bush to get started in Iraq with the observation that war leaders are, quite unaccountably, popular. Yes, we're still feeling the effects of her honest-to-goodness goodness.

You get used to it, after 11 years of incompetance starts blowing up in the communists faces they start attacking anyone they can.

So its the fault of a government that gained power 38 years ago that theres crime in the UK, not the fault of the current government, elected 11 years ago.

Its not the fault of the government that was elected 11 years ago that the poverty gap has increased over the past 11 years.

Dont worry, they'll all be on strike in 6 months demanding 40% pay rises for jobs nobody wants them to do.
Then Labour will be gone for abnother generation and we can all happily live our own lives, free from health and safety inspectors.
I'm not a hippie, I'm a realist.

For a wonderful minute I thought this meant she was dead. Yes, lets give her a state funeral, preferably with an open coffin that we can file past then; a) we can be certain she's really dead and b) know where she's buried so can visit at a later date.....wearing tap-shoes
