Places to visit/do in Cornwall...?
Jybson and I are considering a week in Cornwall next week and wondered if anyone had any suggestions for the best:
Campsites (for tent) or B&B's
Places to visit - the only thing we have on our itinerary so far is The Eden Project
Beaches
Coastal Walks - any specific stretch?
Activities - might consider horse riding on the beach or other such things
Must see/do/visit before you go
Restaurants - I'm thinking Rick Stein's place or Jamie Oliver's Fifteen...?
It's just the two of us so no children to entertain.
Thanks in advance.

Phelp's (spelling?) Pasty shop in Hayle is pretty good.
I'm a big fan of Widemouth Bay when it comes to beaches. It's pretty much right at the top nearly in Devon. There's a good eating pub nearby called The Bayview Inn I think and also a good (well appointed) campsite near too, I think it's called Bude Meadows.
Lands End?

Hi
We went to Rick Steins resturant in Padstow , was pricey but of course delicious. We had the tasting menu , 6 small courses so you got a taste of everything!
Have a lovely time!

He also has a chippy which is pretty good. More pricey than a regular chippy but cheap in comparison.
Very tasty too.

oooooo yes , I forgot about that
, we went there too, we had monkfish and chips , very very nice , but make sure you get there early for when it opens as the queue was very long and parking in Padstow is a bit of a nightmare!

Re: Places to visit/do in Cornwall...?
men an tol is great yeh
there are some tin mines open to visitors
Mousehole is really nice..
Padstow has been taken over by Rick Stein.. they call it Padstein, and such a draw for tourists.. i would avoid it myself, but if you are keen, best book it first.
Landsend is a tourist theme park now..
and you have to pay to visit (unless you walk in on the coastal path.. long walk though)
St Michaels mount in Marazion is good.
Tintagel- sposed birth place of King Arthur.. town is touristy with round table cafe and Merlin's tea shop etc but its kinda funny, and the castle itself is nice.

I agree with the comments about Widemouth Bay and neighbouring Polzeath - both have good camping and are a good base for exploring Cornwall.
I've not eaten at the Stein Restaurant but did eat in the Bistro - the food's the same but cheaper. We stayed above the restaurant but it was spoiled by the snootiest front of house I've ever encountered, so I'm kind of pleased we didn't eat there.
Probably the best meal I've ever had in Cornwall was at the Lugger, in Portloe (wonderful food and surroundings to match - the hotel with restaurant sits above a tiny cove).
Helligan Gardens are definitely worth a visit and make a really interesting comparison with the Eden Project.

i agree with red about st michaels mount and tintagel. i would add my fave EVER beach (or indeed place) which is kynance cove on the lizard peninsula. it is soooo beautiful. it is national trust so you have to pay to park and it is quite a walk down to it but it is well worth it.

Thanks, that's excellent!
We have found a campsite called South Penquite Farm in Blisland, Bodmin. Apparently, it is an organic working farm and they have energy provided by wind turbines and the like.
Just wondered if anyone has stayed there? Any feedback?
Thanks again in advance!

Re: Places to visit/do in Cornwall...?
I'm completely in love with Hayle, its a really quiet, uneventful looking little town, more of an overgrown village than a town really. It has very little in the way of shops and the like (though did have a lovely health food shop when I was there), but is close enough to St. Ives for that kind of thing, and has the most well hidden beaches I've ever seen! You go uphill for ages past farms and the like til you reach some caravan/camping sites and suddenly you realise that the sea is right there! You're on top of the towans overlooking some beautiful beaches! And they have some pretty cool caves and stuff too, its all very Enid Blyton!
Actually, forget I mentioned the place...I want to keep it for myself!
Boscastle might be of interest too, if only for the Witchcraft Museum. I've never actually been there, but I've heard nothing but good.

Re: Places to visit/do in Cornwall...?
the coastal walk from Looe to Polperro is about 8 miles and it's fricking awesome. once in Polperro, take a shire horse bus; it's the thing to do lol! but don't sit at the front of the bus, 'cos the front of the bus is the back of the horse if ya gets what I means. eurgh. horse farts
the beach at polperro is mostly enclosed ad very sandy which makes for a nice warm place to sit, and there's rock pools and a big cave for exploration.
if you're brave you can also go wading in the entrance to the harbour at low tide to find scallops.
I can also recommend Nevilles - Little Green, Polperro, Cornwall PL13 2RF Tel: 01503 272459 his speciality; like much or cornwall's restaurant trade, is seafood. locally caught by the fishermen who make up much of the village's population. Neville was a great chef last time I visited, and he's a friend of the family which is why I'm plugging it a bit. His crab soup is A-HA-MAZING. I would happily eat that as a five year old who hated fish. omg I just realised I'm talking about twenty years ago, but I'm sure he can't have changed his skills that much lol!!! we used to end up at his place every single year. we stayed in polperro every year when I was a child (age 6 months to age 8 or 9) so I probably see it all through rose tinted contacts.
I also love polruan which is across the harbour from fowey, I have fond memories of that place fromwhen I was a child. good fishing round there too.
