Do you keep livestock? Having any problems? Want to talk about it, whether it be sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, bees or llamas, here is your place to discuss.

I've sold my first ever eggs!

Post: # 10997Post Millymollymandy »

My English neighbours asked us for some eggs last night - I thought they always bought theirs from the French lady opposite them so I don't know what's going on but I have agreed to sell them eggs every week! Will make those chickens pay for their keep. Phew, we can have a break from eating eggs - we're quite sick of them! Ooh and don't report me to the French authorities for breaking the law!

That is fantastic! Perhaps if they make their own wine, or something you can do a swap instead of cash!? I am doing a Peter Sellers Inspector Clouseau impression in my head now!! LOL

I quite like the idea of a bit of money to put towards the chook's feed. These neighbours are friends and we already swap all sorts of things like my veggies and chutneys and my OH's computer knowledge for walnuts, chestnuts and borrowing their pick up truck to haul things around like their horse poo!

It's probably illegal without a monthly inspection for bird flu...

Don't go mad and spend it all at once, now.

No, if you are a registered farmer! You can't just sell eggs/veg etc at the gate here without a mountain of red tape and thousands of euros in payments to the dear french government, whether you earn a single cent or not.

Ina - now what can I spend my €2 on? Chocolate?
