Hugh F-W fights back against T@sc@!
Re: Hugh F-W fights back against T@sc@!
In the past 9 months T***o shares have dropped by about £2.50.
The shareholders are unlikely to consider anything that drives up costs
If the battle was ever winnable, that more or less puts it out the running

It really discusts me...
Wogan was on another 'eco-bashing' this morning, sarcastic comments about happy chickens - this society disgusts me sometimes, it really does
ETA - I tried to write the word d i s g u s t s... but apparently it comes out as a wee angry face...

I am sure you heard the news, the brave man did not get the resolution through, a true shame reflection on society.

I dont know, this is the only place I've seen the campaign mentioned, since I'm probably the only T***o shopper on here, I doubt anyones too worried.

Oh, they'll worry. 10% is not insignificant, and sales of poorly-raised cheap chickens will continue to fall. No matter how slow that fall is, it will be shadowed by a proportionate increase in that 10% - shareholders do not like lines with falling profit margins.

Re: Hugh F-W fights back against T@sc@!
Well on BBC News HFW did happen to namedrop another supermarket who are currently offering RSPCA Freedom Food birds for 10p more, I think he said. And it wasn't one of the major ones, either. Am I allowed to say that it was the one that starts with S and ends in FIELD? So he might have lost the battle, but I think the war is far from over....T***o certainly aren't going to appreciate him mentioning other supermarkets by name, particularly as now they are all embarking on a full-scale price war to compete with the likes of Aldi and Lidl. Folk might not avoid T***o purely because of their policy on chickens, but many people are starting to drift away from them anyway - they might just start picking up a few odds and sods elsewhere, but if these other supermarkets are canny enough with their PR they could potentially do a fair bit of damage to the biggies, IMO; particularly if their marketing concentrates on lower prices on staples AND a better welfare standard for their meat and poultry produce - they'll be proving that T***o are talking rubbish about 'needing' to provide cheap, nasty birds to feed us ever so grateful, cash-strapped populous.
Must admit, I can't remember the last time I bought a chicken, I don't think we even look at their paultry (or should I say poultry) selection of free-range sparrows anymore. But that IS the credit-crunch really, we can't justify the cost of any type of meat when we compare it with the vegetables and pulses we can buy for the same amount.
It's a shame really that HFW's campaign has coincided with the economic down-turn, it gives people too much of an excuse to keep buying crap chicken. My advice - don't buy chicken from a supermarket at all, then. You can get 4 or 5 bags of mixed beans for the same amount of money.

I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

That's media. Mediums are clairvoyants. Don't you just love Latin?
Seriously though, I think HFW did a bang-up job, considering how much T***o tried to stop him even putting the resolution in the first place. And for T***o to say it's down to government to make the changes? Shameful. It's up to business to make government see the need for change. Big businesses may be slow, but governments are dinosaurs on mogadon by comparison.

From one true pedant to a fellow traveller. Yes you are quite right, I just hate the word mee me me dia my fingers just won't let me type it, it's one of those weird things. How ever listening to the wireless medium today one might imagine that they are employing clairvoyants, aparently Robert Mugarbe is going to win the general election in Zimbabwe and Spain are set to be european football champions. LoL
And seriously I quite agree with you, that chap did do a good job, total respect to him. One thing I don't understand why doesn't anyone write the word T***o in their posts?
PS Ah. I see now, there was me in the past dilligently 'muffling' the t-word, and the forum does it for me, that's really funny

Re: Hugh F-W fights back against T@sc@!
That's right ... if you write Toss-co or even Tosco it prints OK, but put an 'e' in T***o and it has a tizzy.

This isn't a reflection on society but rather on the few who own shares in TeSSco.AXJ wrote:I am sure you heard the news, the brave man did not get the resolution through, a true shame reflection on society.
