We're having a boy!

Post: # 111848Post citizentwiglet »

Yes, we had it confirmed yesterday when my other amnio results came back with the ALL CLEAR!!

I had guessed already, to be honest, because they didn't test for Turner Syndrome which only affects girls.

Absolutely thrilled to bits - Ellis will have a wee brother and, with any luck, I will be able to remain blissfully unaware of Disney Princesses and the latest Bratz fashion trends! Because I'm not planning on having any more - I don't think my decrepit old body could cope!

Now to think about names....we're thinking about Lucas or Eoin (pronounced Owen) but, as with Ellis, all that may change...(Ellis was very nearly Caleb, right up until the last minute)

Only the heartscan left to go now; but MW had me on the doppler yesterday and babs sounds fine - more serious conditions can usually be identified by a heart murmer, but all sounded great (and very emotional - I've not heard his heartbeat before, just seen it on the scan).

I think my parents are going to be a bit disappointed, they have 3 grandsons (soon to be 4) and no granddaughters, and were really hoping for a pink one; but to be honest that's their problem, not mine. After everything we've been through with this pregnancy, just knowing that the little chap seems healthy is wonderful news for us.

So go on, get your blue wool out, LOL!!
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

BRILLIANT news  My little one is called Ash Lucas. I wanted Lucas for a first name but I have a cousin called Luke so thought it too similar (plus my mum kept saying it rhymed with mucas ... :?

You have been very brave to go through all the testing. I never went for it with either of my pregnancies - because I'd be too chicken to make a decision if something came up!

Big hugs.

Big congrats citizentwiglet :sunny:
I'm really happy for you.
Although they are all grown up now I remember loving raising my three sons. I was and still am so proud of them.
Seems like a long time & yet no time since they were babies.
Love the art in yourself, not yourself in the art.

hoorah!!! Don't count on being ignorant of girlie stuff - my eldest keeps on announcing he wants to be a girl and pointing to high heels in shops saying "I want to wear them mummy". I've told him he can be a girl, but must wait until he is 16 - then the decision can be his. So I introduced a Barbie along with some action men, but she became Mr Magnolia, with only one boot

Fantastic news! How wonderful. Now you really can just relax and enjoy.

Brilliant. Love it. What a very diplomatic approach, really open minded.

Ellis has started already - he 'swapped' his doctor outfit for a Baby Annabel a fortnight ago with the wee girl next door but one....and didn't put dolly down for a week! We were worried that there might be a Jeremy Kyle style custody battle when it came to handing dolly back to her rightful owner....

We've managed to get him this (frankly hideous looking) baby doll from Freecycle which now goes everywhere with us....put it this way, it's good practise for him (as long as he learns that real babies don't like being dragged downstairs by the legs and eating sand...). The doll, despite being a girl, is apparently called Normin (after Naughty Norman from Fireman Sam, we assume). Normin even has her own coat and hat for our camping holiday in a fortnight, and Ellis has already packed her suitcase for 'tenting'....

Well Done Citizentwiglet and the fellow helper, Boys, Girls, it don't matter just love em, and remember you hold their hands for a few years, but love them forever.
