Hi from Colours, think I'm here to stay!!!!!!!!!!

Post: # 109799Post colours »

I usually don't introduce myself to forums but I'm so excited at having discovered this one that I think I'm going to be a real regular and thought I had better say hi!

Just a quicky about myself.

32 yo mum of 2. After uni travelled for a couple of years and worked as a scientist through most of England. Got home to Sydney, quickly worked my way to middle management and was on my way to senior management (so I reckon), ran my husband's business, studied for law, accidentally fell pregnant. Tried to keep it all happening anyway. Accidentally fell pregnant again (yes we did put two and two together this time), hubby then was out of work for about 1 year, nice big mortgage. Something had to give and it was my health. I developed MS.

I had always wondered what it must feel like for cancer patients knowing that there was this thing growing inside them, making them sick. When I was faced with something even worse in my opinion. My own body attacking my nerves and worse still my brain. There I was wanting more children and being faced with the possibility that I may not even be able to look after the ones I had!

So being a scientist I did about as much reading on the subject as I could until I stumbled accross a man called George Jelinek who changed my life.

To cut a long story short he had researched the literature himself and had developed a 'diet' based on other's research which eliminated saturated fat, milk protein, supplemented with omega 3 oils and vitaming D. More importantly maybe he focused on the mind-body connection. Being a scientist I dismissed this at first but it wasn't long before I had to take one good look at my life and realise what was really causing me to be sick.

Which brings me to you. I took a total paradigm shift in my life, bought acreage, found a part-time job, am as de-stressed as anyone with two toddlers can be and am now so bloody healthy it scares me.

I've started studying organic farming and have great permaculture plans for the family. I'm in the planting stage now, just sorting which fruit tree to put where, irrigation, I'm getting sunsine, exercise, the kids are running around getting fitter and we've all never felt better.

I hope to meet many friends through this forum and hope to be able to offer some advice to the newbies as I gain personal experience.

Wow, thanks for the therapy guys, I feel great getting that all off my chest.
