Halloooo

Post: # 108705Post Caro »

Hallo from a hillside on the edge of Exmoor. Moved here a year ago after being stuck in Bath (I'm not posh, honest!!) without a garden for 30 years. Now got a garden plus lots of acres and a beech woods. And fresh air. And a view. Still dizzy with excitement from it all.

I'm here with my horses, and dogs, and ex battery hens. Growing loads of stuff plus harvesting whatever is good from the hedgerows (last autumn wild rasberries, wild strawberries, sloes, crabapples and about a ton of hazelnuts). This month's task is start stockpiling wood for the woodburner.

Speak soon.....

Bath is a great place - I miss it a lot actually. (not posh either! LOL)

You must be like a kid in a sweetshop with all those acres and a garden etc. A beech woods too - how lovely!

Hi Shirlz.

Are you ex-Bath too? I used to live just off Walcot Street.

I went back there last week, for a day, and apart from meeting up with my kids and going for a delve in the lovely Woman's Aid charity shop...well...I just couldn't wait to get back here.

Yes, the beech woods are gorgeous. There's a stream runs through it, and the remains of a trout pond at the top end. The woods are full of red deer. Fantastic to watch them slipping through the trees in the summer but not a place to go in the autumn when the stags are, um, raring to go? It's like Jurrasic Park down there with the sound of the stags roaring at each other, I half expect to see Jeff Goldblaum come staggering up the valley being chased by something scaly with large teeth. Eeek!!

Wow Caro - 30 years without a garden!

I did a year in a flat without one and couldn't hack it for longer than that.
Looks like you're making up for lost time though!

Welcome :thumbleft:
