Ratios! Or, how much oil to petrol for the strimmer!!

Post: # 108505Post Juddy in the Charente »

Me again in the, now for the moment, Charente. i am having a complete brain fade today and would like to illicit somebody's help. I'm off to tackle the brambles etc with the brushcutter but it needs refuelling and the can is empty too! So I need to mix some more but for the life of me I cannot workout the quantities needed!! Why? I have no idea except to blame the ageing process I guess!

So I need a 50:1 mix, simple but having complete number blindness I am completely non-plussed. Any mathematical geniuses out there?

50:1 is 500:10, 5000:100, so 100 ml oil to 5 l petrol, or 50 ml oil for 2.5 l petrol.

Hi Juddy ... remember that if you're working on a particularly hot day (you're not far from me and it's getting really hot now) ... add a bit more oil and it will help stop the brush cutter overheating. Just add a little splash extra.

as said above. 50:1 is the minimum, at work we tend to use about 40:1.
