I keep wondering whether I dare to dumpster dive! Recently a friend gave me a carrier bag full of "out of date" veg for my rabbits & guinea pigs ... needless to say I ate the sugar snap peas & a bag of salad myself

Ready Steady Skip! (Dumpster Diving, Freeganism)
Sort of following on from the Wasted Food topic on here, I've recently discovered that this http://www.readysteadyskip.org.uk/ was filmed here in Nottingham & will be on air on TV sometime in July.

I would try it, though I think it's worth keeping some gardening-style gloves handy, cos I would worry about what the local druggies might have thrown in there, and I think I'd only eat food I found in a dumpster if it were still sealed. Anything else usable I think would have to be non-porous/washable. Having said that, if I knew whoever owned the skip, I'd just check with them what would be likely to be in it.

we've done it loads but never found any food, mainly bits and bobs for the garden. my OH got caught by the police but they didn't think it was worthwhile to arrest him.
