The blight proof league table can be found if you search. Try Blight proof potatoes, Diversity website.

I do not know how to put a link up.

The URL button is in the row above the text box where you write your replies to posts.

I am an earther upper. I did not do it once and got far less tatties than I should. It also helps to clear the ground of weeds - tattie ground gets weeded 3 times in a season: once when you plant em, again when you earth them up and finally when you dig them. The ridging (as Clara rightly said) encourages more tubers to grow on the side shoots. I also find that it helps to keep the shaws/haulms to stand upright, especially during periods of heavy rain. Not only does this help the plant grow, but the shaws block out the light between the rows and this helps to suppress weeds. This is why tatties are good at clearing ground. The bit ours are on has probably not been cultivated in 15 years. There's the odd thistle coming up but thats all (thanks to our pigs!)

My early tatties were earthed up about a month ago and the shaws are very nearly meeting in the rows. My early tatties in the big tunnel will be flowering by the weekend - the buds are almost ready to open! I guess I will dig our first shaw of earlies on Saturday for dinner

Just for interest I once grew taties on virgin land that I had nourished with fresh seaweed. The heaviest tatie weighed five and a half pounds!

Copy - highlight the thing you want to copy (clcik, double click, or click, hold down and move mouse, depending on where you are), press and hold down the Ctrl key and press C.

Paste - move your cursor to where you want the paste, press and hold down the Ctrl key and press V.

If you find the ctrl C, ctrl V thing a bit of a pain (some do but I have never worked out why) use edit copy and then edit paste at the top of the browser window.

My earlies flowers are just starting to die, cant wait to have a look but will wait a week or two.

Starting to think about planting for Christmas, will order tubers next month and start to prepare ground. My first year to try this not sure which type to go for.

Have to say I would much prefer to do the task when the soil is dry.
