thinking about getting an organic compost bag to put them out in the greenhouse this weekend.. although they seem to be doing well enough on the windowsil!

its exciting when the first tomatoes set!

I'm havina mixted time with my toms - half are good and half are lousy and I dunno whats made the difference.. ho hum...

Hi your tomatoes look great! I still get really excited when the first trusses start appearing. The promise of things to come - how sad am I!

You should think about removing the side shoots (the little ones that appear where the branches leave the main stem. Otherwise (according to my Dad who grew THE BEST tomatoes) they put all their effort into growing plant rather than fruit.

Hi Aura,
Your dad was absolutely right,sort out the sideshoots.(the little buggers!).Yes it is sad,i get a kick from seeing any new growth in the veg patch!! Just this evening i was going all "Bill Oddie" about new Dwarf Green Bean shoots. Hey ho!!!

Forgot to say.......don't nip out the sideshoots of cherry tomatoes (i.e. tumblers,etc........these can be grown from hanging baskets),leave them to do their own thing!.......Once the trusses start flowering, don't foget to apply foodstuff
