High Rise Veggies

Post: # 106203Post Batty in Battersea »

Hi everyone

I am another newbie in your gang. Considered to be slightly mad by my friends and family due to my determination to grow as much herbs and veg as possible on my London balcony, 1m x 5m, on the 9th floor facing west. Currently nurturing a big tub of spuds, about 5 different tomato plants, sweetcorn, corgettes, aubergenes, sweet peppers, strawberries, peas, salad leaves and a whole host of annual and perennial herbs. I just about have space left for my wormery, waterbutt and a little table and chairs!
i'm a bit of a Lush and Neals Yard addict and I am learing by trial and error how to clean my flat using lemon juice, vinegar and baking soda. Being epileptic stops me from driving, which is a great excuse to walk everywhere and keeps me fit to boot.

One day I am going to quit city life and head back to the Westcountry (I grew up in Somerset) and practice the good life on my own little smallholding. Currently I am paying back my uni debts as a geologist for an oil company, slowly greening them from the inside (well, i'm trying to).

At least you won't often have problems with ground frost...

Hiya Wendy, and welcome to the gang! :flower:

Welcome aboard

Your veggie growing efforts should put suburb-dwellers with decent sized gardens to shame!
