There are so many variations that skin colour really doesn't matter. My brother has much darker skin than me, especially in summer when he tans and I burn. I went out with a guy who's mum was from Mauritius, he was easily paler than my brother.
I don't think you get as much racism in Scotland - I might be wrong but I have never really heard it - only from dafties that would shout abuse at anyone they didn't like the look of - of course you could get killed if you walk down the wrong street wearing a green top.
And as for anyone who admits to being ginger, the firing squad will be sent round.
