By Daniel Butler, Bel Crewe ISBN: 067101580X
Bought this a while back and enjoyed it. Daniel wanted to be self-sufficient-ish and Bel had no idea. They met, fell in love, got pregnant and moved from London to Wales.
I guess I am the eternal optimist like Daniel, but I enjoyed the way Bel managed to come round to the whole idea - bit by bit. And began loving to grow vegetables etc.
Urban Dreams Rural Realities: In Pursuit of the Good Life
I got that from the library some time ago and loved it. Nabbed a copy when it turned up cheap in a charity shop.
Not a "how to" book, but you do pick up some interesting tips along the way (why you shouldn't feed coffee grounds to pigs!) and it's inspiring in places too. I think Bel's pessimism is what makes it so good.
