My Boys and I had no heating or hot water at all last winter as our boiler packed up completely, was condemned by engineers, and I had no money to get a new one!![]()
We had candles everywhere in the evening plus blankets to heat us, I did put an electric heater in the boxroom in the morning for us all to get changed in, and we went swimming to the local pool, (so we could shower properly) in the evenings!![]()
Thankfully, it is all restored now!!!
Improvisation is fun for a while, but I do sympathise with you!!!

Wouldn't it make sense for you to have thermal solar water heating? Makes sense even in Scotland - I suppose you have a little more sun that we do...possum wrote:I sympathise entirely, back in the UK, our combi boiler packed in two days before xmas.
I am so glad now that we have either the logburner or the emersion heater to heat the water.

Burning wood is carbon neutral, in that it only releases the carbon that the tree absorbed whilst growing. As we have planted another couple of hundre trees in place of the once being felled and trimmed, my conscience is clear.ina wrote:I understand your abundance of wood - but burning that still releases carbon...
