What I Don't Have and Glad!!

Post: # 103968Post gettingthere »

This might be a bit of a different take on what you found you can live without, but here goes: I don't own a microwave-had one but it took up too much counter space in my kitchen, so I gave it to my daughter. I'm home most of the time now so have time to cook and/or wam things up on the "regular" stove
Don't have a clothes drier--love to hang wash outdoors instead during good weather months then in the basement on drying racks in winter--no need for any drier sheets even if I had one--clothes are so dry during winter months-no static cling!
Don't have a dishwasher--I'm the dishwasher
Don't have a huge wardrobe--no longer work in an office so jeans and sweats suffice.
OK guys and gals--your turn!! :flower:

All of the above....´cept I´m hoping for a dishwasher (solar powered and heated natch!) this year.

I don´t have cars within a couple of miles of the house, so no need to worry about my freé-range cats, dogs and child.

No utility bills

I don't have a telly - saves time, money, space, dusting and allows me to pay for the broadband instead.

No tv, microwave, dishwasher, dryer...

I do have huge wardrobes, though- they are built in, and very useful for just stuffing everything into out of sight when visitors come!

No TV or microwave either.

I am tempted to cut the plug off the dishwasher to stop OH from putting things in it...

I am also tempted to disconnect the dryer part of our washer dryer for the same reason!

No boss either.

No money

No landline telephone, one cheep mobile between us surfices.

No dishwasher, they actually cost more to run and take more time and you often still have to wash stuff (me thinks they is a big con!).

No wizzy tv, saved it from being dumped many years ago.

To be honest, not much to worry about either.

Ah yes - no mobile! I do have landline phone, but to be honest, it's mostly because I'm a keyholder at work and need to be on the phone.... Rarely used privately.

sorry but I love my TV. I adore my broadband and my dryer has become one of my best mates.

HOWEVER... we only have one TV, like Tea has experienced, this seems to cause raised eyebrows. As does telling cable and satelite operators to go away 'cos I'm happy with freeview. No video recorder, no need for one 'cos having freeview most things are repeated a few days later, and bbc has the iplayer which I use my broadband for.
more raised eyebrows (I assume rom the campsite lady's shock on the phone); when we go camping we go camping. we do not take an electric hookup and create a little energy eating tent. "so you'd be ok without electric hookup? are you sure?!" YES i AM FLIPPING SURE!!!
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very

No TV (don't miss it!). Use BBC iPlayer to watch Doctor Who, don't bother with anything else, just buy a DVD if I fancy it.

No car - this shocks people at work - they keep asking when I'm getting one! They look at me very pityingly. But there is an excellent, frequent, reliable bus service almost door-to-door... so why would I bother?
Smile :)

No dryer, no dishwasher, didn't have a T.V. until last summer when our son finished Uni and brought his home, don't have a microwave. We do have a car, but only because OH works in the middle of nowhere and there's no bus service. We are about to buy a rotovator, which I've always thought pointless and sort of cheating, but as I've recently become our grandkids' minder I find I've less time than I had and it might be the difference between managing our plots and not.......oh and a whole forest probably has to die to keep me in books annually, so I could do a lot better.

no tv here either. although the hassle we've had from the tv licensing people who don't seem to understand that we dont have a tv and dont want one so will not be getting a license, and we're not too happy about them coming round to check either.........well i could do without that.

no tumbledryer either, am quite happy to hang clothes up for 2/3 days on a rack, loads of people cant understand this but really it just takes a teensy bit of organisation (unless its sunny outside). no dishwasher either but i hate them as they never get stuff properly clean anyway.

We have two televisions.
But forking out for a license really pi88es me off. most programmes are repeats. are repeats. are repeats. are r.... ok thats enough.

It seems like there are a lot of ishers out there who don't own televisions.
( silly question coming up)
So if you watch programmes on your computers. do you still have to get a license?
It's nice to be important,
But it's more important to be nice.
