Catching Up

Post: # 103955Post gettingthere »

Hi Everyone: Sorry I've been missing in action! In early April I slipped on a piece of ice while carrying a heavy garden trellis which in turn fell on my wrist when I fell (left one) fracturing it. The cast was taken off Wednesday, thank goodness, so now I need to "baby it" it a little as the dr. said for the next couple of weeks in order to regain the strength. At this point I can't even lift a cup of coffee--thank goodness we have two hands! It is amazing though what can be accomplished while using one hand--just takes a bit longer and sometimes patience--which I must confess am sometimes in short supply of! :( Got potatoes planted--25 pounds of mixed--Kennebec, Yukon Gold and Reds. Weather has been far from co-operative and we are still receiving light frost, so hopefully soon all will warm up to get the rest of garden planted. It is a along weekend in Canada--the Victoria Day weekend-tomorrow being the actual holiday. As usual traffic has been hectic--all wanting to open their cottage, get their boats out on the water. It is what many Canadians consider to be the first "official" weekend to another summer season, even though still cold. Rained most of the weekend along with a damp gusty wind. :( But there are all those hardy (or stubborn) ones who will camp in the rain and even snow. Last year we had snow mixed with rain on June 5. I am Not that hardy!
Good to be back--even though still typing s-l-o-w-l-y!! Hugs. :flower:

red: our slug/snail problems arrive in late summer (at least in this part of the province) when things are almost at their peak. They become more of a challenge if there has been a great deal of rain and in damp areas where it can become moldy. Are they are a problem in your area?
