I'm back .......with some news!

Congrats Mrs D and Esther!!

Well, that's me at 13 weeks now and already starting to show....fortunately I wear massive smock-type hippy tops so no need to buy maternity stuff!

Hospital have been pretty good this time round. As there were no complications last time, I have been told that I won't need to be induced (to keep me 'controlled' in case of haemorraging) this time, I just stop my anti-coagulants once I start to feel labour pains. They have, however, strongly suggested an epidural because of my condition (though I fail to see a link, unless it has something to do with preparation in case I need a C Section for some reason). Not sure about that one....I've decided against pethadine/diamorphine because it screwed my head up too much as well as making Ellis very sleepy for a few days. Think I'll give a nod to the epidural just so the anaethetist is around - I've been told that if I think I can manage without that's no problem at all, it's not like they'll hit me with sticks for messing them around. I can't honestly make a decision until I know what I'm letting myself in for, IYSWIM...all births are different, and I'm not risking a traumatic birth and a recurrence of PND just so I can get a 'I dun it natural' badge - I'll have two little people to look after, and they're more important than me. Still hoping I can go without though - just not going to beat myself up if I can't!

I was showing at 8 weeks (water retention probably) by the time I was 6 months I could hardly walk and everyone thought I was ready to pop or it was twins... problem is, I still look 4 months pregnant oh well

I agree that 'doin' it natural' is not the be all and end all good luck with however it works out.

I'll have two little people to look after, and they're more important than me.

Which is precisely why YOU are the most important... they both need you so much that it is YOU that needs to be looked after by everyone else.

Totally agree, its far better to have a well and happy mother for your two little people than having done it naturally if that just isn't going to work safely. I also had PND (well actually mine turned out to be a very underactive thyriod undiagnosed for a year ) so I would agree, you definitely don't want to go there again, your little people need you.

I started to show early with this one (this is my second too) but at almost 22wks am just about average really, have a bigger bump than this time last time but not enormous yet - mind you by the end I was enormous last time, even the midwives at the hospital went that is a huge bump! But I am only 5ft and petite build (although not that slim ) and so a 9lb 9 baby had to go somewhere!

We had a similar situation with P. we wanted a home birth in true incense-stick-between-the-toes style, but then P decided to be very breech so we went for a planned section. I was so upset about it at first, but soon realised that a healthy baby and a healthy mum were the priorities rather than my au naturel ambitions and in fact it was very jolly in theatre!

I had two mcs last year so I'm not letting myself look too far ahead this time, but I would like at least a 'normal' birth if poss, ie not a section. Since I had P both Mr D's teenagers from his first marriage have come to live with us and P is now 6 so struggling after a c-sec won't be as relatively simple as last time.

Anyway, live revolves around next Thursday when we'll find out if this one's looking good, but if the levels of indigestion, sleeping, eating, nausea and boob expansion are anything to go by there's a healthy army in there! Showing already so today I'm in some soft old jeans and Mr D's great big nightshirt
