The first Ethical Expo will be held on the 9th and 10th May 2008, incorporating International Fairtrade Day.
"Ethical Expo will help consumers make the right choices by bringing together producers, distributors, resellers and the public. Ethical Expo will cover three areas; Eating, Wearing and Living, with seminars, demonstrations, shows and stands."
"With 60 major exhibitors, a programme of seminars,workshops and key speakers all designed to educate, inform and enthuse the public, Ethical Expo expects in excess of 10,000 visitors over the two days."

I still don't get this (sorry, Pouch) - how is it possible to have an ethical Expo which involves possibly thousands of people coverging (with consequential fuel expenditure) on a single point in the country? I'd love it if it was just down the road - but I just have this awful suspicion that it's merely an alternative way to do the same old business.

OK, Pouch - now you can shout at me, because I also suspect that you just want to make a living. Difficult, isn't it?

the 2 guys who started self-sufficient-ish are from Bristol, many of the users of this site are from Bristol, so I'm highlighting an event happening in Bristol. So hopefully, many users of this site wouldn't have to travel far to get to the Expo

there was no parking on site, so many local Bristolians walked, came in by bus and cycled to the event

It was a really good event which promoted lots of local business, many of which are trying to have as little impact on the planet as possible...

The Sunrise festival is near Yeovil

At Sunrise, there is a strict rule of no traffic movement after everyone has set up on thursday 29th May, so the only way to get around the site is on horse drawn transport or on foot. I have also been told by the organisers of Green Innovations that there are wardens patrolling the site ensuring that food traders are using compostable materials and all the food they sell must be organic. I believe Sunrise is one of the most sustainable festivals in the UK.

I'm just wondering, do you not approve of any gatherings to promote greener lifestyles?

I was being a bit bitchy, wasn't I? Sorry, Pouch - nothing personal. But the answer is no, I don't. They always seem akin, to me, to animal rights activists releasing mink into the wild - an ultimately futile gesture which does more harm than good.

so just posting an event which might be of interest to people on this forum...

If you are not in favour of events, I would then suggest that the 'what's going on' section of this forum is not going to bring you much joy!

Oh no, Pouch - don't get me wrong. I'm not against events in any shape or form. They're usually great fun. Meet your mates, have a rolicking good time etc. They're fine. It's the description which I'm arguing about. Having a national anti-car rally would make my antennae twitch, too.
