dang. you see I live in a bog-standard ex-council private rented property so it's not too hard for me.

Same here. We have two boars, four sows, a maturing gilt, and 10-30 piglets, weaners and finishers at any time. But apparently they're pets and can't be covered. Our 30-45 chickens are also pets and can't be covered.

Mind you, other insurers aren't much better. If we don't put up warning signs, then we may be liable if someone isn't alerted to a potential danger. But if we put up warning signs, we won't get insurance cover as we've admitted the danger and accepted liability.


I have a suspicion that NFU Scotland is rather different to NFU England as I've heard quite a few anecdotes about the horrors of insuring (or trying to insure) with the NFU up here. People in England seem to have a better experience.
