Shelves made out of . . . shelves!!!

Post: # 86037Post frozenthunderbolt »

Im now woking at our local hardware store (having compleated my Ba and found out it stands for Bugger All - what it's good for) and im recycling stuff they chuck outlike mad!

Our manager was dumping old wooded (pine) shelving that displayed power tool on an angle sloping down toward the customer (go the mental visualisation lol)

Were about 10-12 3meter long 40 cm deep shelves so i took one and cut it up in my lunch break.

got i home cut the back (angled) board section off, unscrewed it fliped it upside down and remounted it to the now square back section.

flip the whole shelf upside down and screw it to the wall using the new back plate and i have a free shelf with built in book ends! and two more waiting for me to do the same thing in my workshop!

and you just know i love the staff discount - most things have 100+% markup on them and i have found nothing has less than 45% . . . mad.

thanks! i thought it was pretty cool too! ;-) nah they're pretty good about it.
The manager is a first class wastrel but luckly doesnt have anyproblems about us filching the stuff he throws out.
Does recycle the cardboard wast and puts out broken pallets for free which is good though i guess. :?

 I like it, trying to work out mine (MA) now....

Sounds like a good bit of recycling...we are always on the cadge for pallets here but everyone uses them for building stuff/firewood and so there is a bit of a free-for-all whenever any are put out!
