i love Nigel Slater's laid back use-what-you-have style of cooking.

His books are a great read too.

Re: Love that album!!

some crackers there

Funny though, I would find it HARDER to choose 5 than to choose 1. I've just unpacked about 500 CDs after a two year parting - I'm having great fun playing them all. Happy days :flower:

Re: Etiquette

Do you want him to play "the game" with you? No? Then don't play any with him. Be upfront and bold - tell him what a lovely time you had and maybe suggest a couple of follow on dates (cinema, meal out, etc) You could have done a lot of dating to find a very pleasant men indeed - count your...

Love that album!!

I've just dug out Blue Lines by Massive Attack - I really love that album, if I HAD to choose a favourite all timer, that would be it.

Which one album has a really special place in your ears??

Re: Cabbages

some nice ideas ...... sauerkraut - I'm not mad on the stuff but it's ultra-good for you isn't it? Maybe I'll make some of that and force it down! Think I'll make some coleslaw this weekend and a tofu quiche to go with it. I've got some lovely crisp white cabbage - they are almost like lettuce they ...

I'll definately give them a try them. I'll start them off early so I can plant them out once the frosts are finished.

Re: Parsnips

I sowed them in the polytunnel. I'm hoping the extra heat will help them get to a reasonable size before the frosts next year produce their sugars. Best hope is that I get some baby parsnips which I'll roast whole. Yum yum!

Re: Lentils and Chickpeas?

I had a tiny chickpea plant grow on my draining board ... it escaped from a bag of seeds I was sprouting and grew roots and stem like a tiny bonsai.

I'm going to have a trial of some here in France - I'm sure they'll amount to nothing, but I've got loads of land so nothing to lose.

Cabbages

I've got masses of cabbages awaiting harvest .... I love 'em. Particuarly flash fried with a bit of garlic, ginger and soy. Or maybe steamed. I need some inspiration - what are your favourite (meat free) ways of preparing cabbage? I have green, white and red 'uns. ( I also have a freezer jammed with...
