Last night we were sat down talking about what to do as a family together this year like the big ish meet, holidays, flower shows and concerts. and my daughter who is 20 now commented that she would love to go to another rock concert again, last year i took her to see Rush at the Newcastle arena and she said it blew her mind she loved it. so this year i hear that ac/dc and kiss are touring so i will see if i can get tickets,
It really takes me back as i saw all these bands in the 70s/ 80s and at the concerts now all of us are taking our kids to see the same bands, great to see.
I was very fortunate when i was younger i saw most of the big bands
like status quo,thin lizzy,ac/dc,led zep, queen, jethro tull,motorhead, rush, ian dury,steeleye span and a few unusual ones, can anyone remember

I went to see the Beatles live when they were a supporting act for Roy Orbison at the Nottm Odeon.

I remember going to see Louis Armstrong at the De Montfort Hall, Leicester. What a show that was!

Most of the bands I remember were wild, angry and Australian, so there's not much point in mentioning them. Suffice to say that Hells Angels were often the security and you get the idea...

the only bands I've seen live were an unsigned, never heard from again band called Bugfly when i was at uni, another unsigned band when i was at 6thform (this time it had my mates in it lol!) called Paranoid Lens and last year jim and I went to see The Real Tuesday WEld at some compilation concert, they were totally crap live and didnt appear to want to be there. we left and got pizza lol!

OK, I was never big on bands, apart from the non-descript school dance type stuff. But I did get dragged along by Mrs Wombat to see..........John Denver.

In my defence I drew the line at seeing the Osmonds!

My tastes have changes over the years. It used to be heavy metal (although at the time we called it progressive rock) but the last live music I attended was Kate Rusby.

My kids have been to Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Human League, The Cure and Bauhaus (all while I was pregnant with them at the time). They still love listening to them all. Interesting.

I took dh to see The Mission in Nottingham for his birthday a couple of years ago. That was brill!

Only Live band I've seen is Bon Jovi. FABULOUS. Absolutely rockin!

I'd love to go see more, but it's the cost issue.

and they are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head... I worked out about 5 years ago that I had seen 70 or so bands live (I could add 5 or 6 to that list now)

But I was an brit-pop/inde kid in the early 90s and my brother is in a band (professionaly) and I did a course in music management... so yeah... I have been to see loads of bands.

I do remember Patti Smith but never saw her live. Rock isnt really my thing, I am more into soul, rnb and old motown.

The best I have seen has to be Earth Wind and Fire. Amazing show!

I took my dad to see Steeleye Span a few Christmases ago!! as his present because he liked them... I've been an addict ever since!!

have also seen good ol' Alice Cooper TWICE!! wooyea!! Last year he was touring with Motorhead but I missed it....(all sympathy is welcome...) I WILL be going again!!! He was touring with Thunder if anyone remembers them... to be honest they were a bit rubbish live...

Annpan you saw the Barenaked Ladies?!?!? OOOHH!!! Are they good live? I've got most of their CDs... but I don't want to see them and then they be terrible (happened with a band called Moses, they were great on CD, awful live) )..gossip!! hehe!

Niki I saw Bare Naked Ladies at T in The Park several years ago and it's safe to say they were fantastic live! They pulled a bod out of the audience onto the stage and taught him to play (very easy) rhythm guitar to one of their pieces.

Wonder what Annpan thought of them...
