Following on from Annpan's What when etc I was wondering ('cos I am basically very nosy!) what books are sitting next to the toilet?

We have 2 joke books - one about cats and one about men, a screw fix catalogue and Bescherelle - How to conjugate 12,000 french verbs!!

Old Pepyes diary. One entry is usually as long as a number one and a few are perfect for number twos.

I'd highly recomend it, he's a wonderful chap and the way he puts things: his boy servant did something wrong so he 'did beat the boy till he screamed. Which did vex me'! And the way he moans about his wife then says he misses her.

girls bumper book of handicraft (1950s)
great lies to tell small kids
bunny suicides 1
bunny suicides 2
cows of our planet gary larson

hubby doesn't understand my need to read on the loo, but he puts up with it.

We don't keep books in the loo either. I had 'Dr Tatiana's Sex Advice to All Creation' hanging around in there for a while, but only cos I was reading it in the bath and left it there.

Edited to add: there is an ancient newspaper we use for cleaning the mirror, however.

Next to the loo is the cat tray - that's all. The seat is too blimming cold to encourage long stays...

we have got 'undreds of ecologists and green parent mags, and a book called "how to be free". Tellingly, it is unread...

We have also got a book with a flush button on it as a treat for ds1 when he gets it in!

Mrsflibble the bunny suicide books are SO funny!!

don't actually have any books in my loo at uni because it's too small! However, and Fee can back me up on this, we usually have lots of magazines hanging around in the bathroom at home. Stuff like take a break, real people, chat etc. silly women's mags... gives you something to do...while you're...doing!!

My ex had a calender up infront of the main loo in his house with a pen attatched.... i thought it was a genius idea!! At least everyone's almost guaranteed to see it once a day!!

I usually have a readers digest in there - my mum subscribed to it for us and I find that it's good for a quick visit read as well as a longer stay!
I usually have the current book that I'm reading in there too - but only because it's the only place in the house where I can be left alone long enough to read for a while! lol
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Nik's right, we do have lots of magazines. We also have 'Wit of the Nation' - a book of quotes too. Dad finished reading it, so in decided that it was the perfect lo book!
