B+B Edinburgh

Post: # 85937Post Silver Ether »

As we have a fair number of scots here, I though I would ask if .... anyone knows a good B+B in Edinburgh? We want about 3 nights in August for the festival ... I just hate looking for places to stay as I know how the prices are bumped up. with some where to park ... :flower:

You might be better off a fair way out of Edinburgh - and get the P&R or train to go in. Personally, I'd do my very best to stay away from Edinburgh during the festival... :pale:

I spent five years living in Edinburgh as a student and loved it! We try and go back regularly to visit with the kids.

Edinburgh Festival - yeah it can be a bit cowded, yeah - they bump up the prices but I have always had a great time.

The atmosphere is brilliant. Even if you don't go and see anything the vibe in the city is great. BOOK EARLY!

Can recommend the B+B - Ashdene House, Mr&Mrs Daulby, 23 Fountainhall Road, www.ashdenehouse.com, tel 0131 667 6026. Stayed there in Sep 07. Very Quite Street, on street parking if taking the car.
Its not in the centre but near the Univeristy District so not too far from the action. Breakfasts were good, rooms clean and tidy and staff very pleasant.

Have a great time.

I am with Ina, stay outside of Edinburgh and get the train or bus in.

I am with Ina and Baldowrie.

I have worked in Edinburgh during the festival (I used to be in entertainment dahling) I commuted from Glasgow and never missed a thing - caught late night shows and parties, and still got home to bed (it might have been 7 in the morning, but I did get home  ), the train services are great, as are the shuttle buses. You could easily spend a week (or 2) just outside Edinburgh for the same price as 3 days in.

One note is, if you are going to travel in and out everyday... don't travel at rush hour... Edinburgh is horrendous at rush hour.
