Neals Yard Remedies do great stuff, and it lasts longer than you think!

Currently using their frankincense moisturiser and palmarosa face wash. They will also take their bottles back for reuse (and a small refund?)

I also like Weleda, their rose range and the baby range too.

i shall watch this thread with interest, as i discovered yesterday that my favourite face cream is full of all the nasties i'm cutting out of my life. I've used it for over 20yrs, so have no idea what to replace it with.

and, i'm not even going to think about how much harm its done in all that time

I've been using hemp seed oil as general all-purpose moisturiser for a few months now and love it. It isn't organic, but it doesn't have any preservatives or anything in. Depends what you're most concerned about. I get mine from http://www.innocentoils.com.

For everything else, I'm still using up the nasties in my bathroom already....

Bash some oats abit, mix with tumeric and homemade yoghurt and use as a face pack, keep it on for 30 mins. Not suitable for pale people

In fact, oats generally make a really good scrub.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions,
I had a look in town today at DR Hauschker which a friend recommended, and the neil's yard stuff, but in the end decided to go on the internet and bought a shampoo and conditioner from Green People, I will see how it goes, and am really willing for suggestions for other brands or ideas etc. I am just really feeling like my usual Nivea soft and Head and Shoulders is poisoning me, at the moment I have terribly allergic rhinitis, and exzema, dont know why its flared us, usually it does if I am stressed, but I am a teacher on half term, so this cant be!!

Dr Hauscha (sp?) is posh weleda - made by the same people, posher packaging, not terribly different IMO, but much more expensive! I think its aimed at people who would normally go for something like clarins, presented in a way they can relate to without feeling like a hippy!

I have used green people sunscreen and its very good, be interested to hear about their other products

I can vouch for oats as a beauty treatment. i get incredibly dry skin due to another medical condition and oats are wonderful.

i use oats and egg yolk as a face pack once a month- always when jim is on nights and I can do it without the stares or comments lol!!!

Butter and egg mashed together then applied as a face mask. We had this to go in the book and I even had a photo taken of me wearing it, bits of egg and butter falling off all over the place I look a right twonk! Then our editor dropped it entirely as it was decided that cosmetic advice from men was not a great idea. Hmmpt!!!

Don't use soap on your face, just wash with plain water and a soft cloth. I use rosewater or witch hazel if I feel a bit oily and it doesn't dry. Miniscule amounts of olive or grapeseed oil are a great moisturizer when massaged into the skin. VERY LITTLE AMOUNTS. If you feel oily, just hit it with some rosewater. Olive and coconut oil/butter is great on the lips too. Add some ginger oil and it will give you a nice tingling rose color for a bit.

Seems like everything here has alcohol in it, and that will inevitably dry out your skin, where ever you use it.

This is very interesting. I've recently had a real problem with my skin. They are doing renovations at work and it seems that they've done something that I'm allergic to! I've developed an tight sort of itchy rash all over my face, neck, chest, arms, hands - in fact every where that is kind of exposed. It feels a bit like I'm wearing a tight wooly jumper! I went to the docs and they've confirmed that it's an allergy. She also told me not to put ANYTHING on my face except water. So now my skin is feeling additionally dry and tight thru lack of moisturiser! I think I might ignore the water only rule and try some of your soothing remedies! After that I think I may well continue with your tips - after all I've been on the look out for some lovely simple skin care stuff!

´fraid not :( . I love the way they smell, but a lot of their products contain parabens and synthetic perfumes and other stuff.

The solid bars seem to be safer, but I´ve got in the habit of scrutinising their stuff rather than just trusting their "handmade"image - ingredients are on their website.
