hello from Aotearoa

Post: # 49907Post Christopher »

hello all

It's official. I'm taping into the Scots in me and becoming self-sufficientish. I was visiting my brother and the suburb he lives in was having its inorganic collection time - I saw some tea chests and thought - oh, what could I do with these? Couldn't think of anything.

But I (well, a friend did, he had a power jiggy thingy) did cut a 44 gallon drum in half last week - one half is my compost bin the other has scallopini growing in it plus some organo (cause I couldn't stick it anywhere else).

Thanks to this site I'm thinking of more and more ways to be self-sufficientish... yay. :flower: <-- dats me - a petal.

cheers,
Christopher.

thanks.

Scallopini are a form of courgette - they produce round umm plate like fruit with scalloped edges. They are yellow. You pick them when small and cook like courgettes kinda.

My friend gave me the cutting actually - he likes them so I'm going to try it out.

To all here who said hello, and to everyone else as wel! Tis nice to be part of a movement like this...

My only regret is that I couldn't think of a good nickname for myself apart from my given name... you guys have such cool nicknames - must be an UK thing.

Looking forward to contributing my knowledge from a wee special place downunder. The other wee special place is of course West Island.

Cheers,
Christopher.
